Shakespeare RE:loaded

Writer: lpillalpilla

The Brief for this project:

Design a campaign to promote a season of plays at Shakespeare’s Globe on the South Bank called ‘Shakespeare RE:loaded’ and apply it to a station domination at Waterloo. ‘Shakespeare RE:loaded’ aims to reinterpret some of the bards most famous plays for contemporary London and this should be a key communication objective of your campaign. You are to focus on the play Romeo & Juliet We will direct you proactively towards a creative solution through a series of workshops that will introduce key skills and guide you in formulating a systematic process for the production of creative solutions.

MOON BOARDS

Some of the key themes in the play.

Love is on of the key motions that create the story of the play.

The two main characters fall in love when they first meet, Shakespeare presents their initial meeting as passionate, flirtatious and true."To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss."

Romeo uses the word 'rough' to describe himself, this suggest he does not believe to be worthy of Juliet. He even goes so far to describe a kiss 'tender' which conveys a warm gentle feeling.

The conflict between the two families

The two families have been taught to hate each other, even though no one remembers why they do. "Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean."

Conflict between Tybalt and Romeo

'therefore turn and draw."

Tybalt and Romeo have a duel, in which Romeo kills Tybalt.

Juliet's inner conflict when she discovers Romeo is a Montague

"That I must love a loathed enemy."

She cannot control her emotions and stop loving Romeo. -who is a sworn enemy to her family.

Romeo and Juliet try to escape their fate. Not being allowed to love each other. The prologue states them as 'Death-marke'd love'.

The signification of a red line can be one of love, fate or blood.

The images with the red string, I think is visually strong.
