Why I chose it?
Underrated tasty food.
Empanadas remind me of my childhood, baking them as a family and learning how to fold the dough to create the twisted crown they have. (as seen on the lefthand side of the image)
In South America we all share similar versions of foods. This food is no exception, They come in a variety of fillings,
I typed in 'Empanadas' onto the Instagram search engine, the results were not as beautiful as my google search. There were a few decent pictures of Empanadas with recipes, but no dedicated pages.
Quite a bland search, on an enormous platform.
social media presence.
Culture
The food comes from an ethnically rich background.
I could explore this in my project, or stay away from it.
For the most part, they are relatively easy to make.
Baking a whole batch could take around two hours, and then you're set for weeks breakfast!

Primary Resturant Research
I Went down to Elephant and Castel, as it is a Latino hub.
The restaurant I went to was La bodeguita, which had nice service and their beef empanadas weren't bad they were good, although further down the road they were a little cheaper but smaller in another cafe.
making them at home!
I recorded the footage of me making a batch of empanadas.
I'm thinking of possibly playing around with the footage. Layering on an empanada facial expression.
Creepy?
Cute?
Looking at the pastry is my first thoughts were they look warm and cosy this made me think of cute things.
I can imagine the empanada having a cute face and it will go with the feel of a warm baked good.
With this in mind would I want to explore a cute warm vibe for my empanada?
I looked at some cute things and I personally liked and have a different feel to for example I have the gloomy bear from Japan which is cute due to its appearance however its significance is quite sad as it’s about suicide.
Alongside that video, I have a little babies ice cream which is on a different spectrum more on the side of weird and uncomfortable visual imagery.
perhaps I could provoke people by making them feel uncomfortable with food and comfortable with the food I have chosen.
One way I could also anxiety reaction and people could be by Animating my food, for example, the trailer below of sausage party has that premise, on an extreme version.
I could create food with a personality or the fact that it’s alive I face something.
For example, good and Gudetama is such an icon and a staple of how food could gain a personality and be able to profit off that personality and create something out of that personality.
With this in mind, I have to think about what kind of personality would my empanada have what would it do you have it or how it would feel things like that adding in a nice sweet face perhaps.
Thoughts
Does it have a personality?
Its cute, warm, quick food, healthy, Cosy
It looks like a pillow, comfy //
Fall into it and get made into an empanada // panada
Food screaming- the stuffing
Bite into them - bite into everything (your own self )
Eat your own furniture? Looks like a pillow - cloud
Choose your filling - fill me up
Is there a way to visualise this in the food?
Find something that's common and flip it?
Look at Instagram trends o could do
Just play around
-painting empanadas on things
-pretty girls
Stupid stuff
Drawing skills
//need to do a shoot with the sticky empanadas
And also draw them on
// also need to edit the videos of empanadas to post
//weirdly eating
As the food is a baked good, it’s golden Appearance If it’s a sense of warmth and cosy nurse which is something I should also implement into this persona all this food character it should be happy with your life has its own fillings are an adventure.
However, with this persona I would like to wear raise awareness to this actual food as on a social media level it doesn’t have any big following it doesn’t have anything major happening with it.

Get people to engage with empanadas by bringing awareness to the food by tagging areas and personifying it
Instagram trends
Meme's
Quick drawing videos
Makeup videos
Instagram is such a massive platform and has grown tremendously into something completely new.
As one of our first platforms to use is Instagram I want to look at trends what’s happening things are popular just to help me be able to resonate with my own target audience and to see what they want to see.
For my age range mean pages quick Instagram videos really sure funny things even with a bit of dark humour resonates with my target audience so dipping into these trends will really help my Instagram become popular in theory.
Memes have to be able to resonate and connect with its target audience and most of the main pages I follow up on UK-based talks about what is currently happening funny things in that person's point in time in life where they are or about social things occurring as TV shows or anything so for my target audience I have to really understand and know them to be able to also attract them.
I social media is a quick thing, as well as connecting with people and doing everything else.
Short quick videos of makeup, art, sculpture anything are quite popular so there’s a whole section on Instagram to quick arts videos whether it’s more, whether it be big art piece or small, as long as it has some nice music and good visuals and a nice outcome, it’s popular and people enjoy watching them.
As I’m trying to give my empanada persona I’m trying to put it out there I’m thinking of possibly just doing something quick and find something that someone can watch and be like that’s cool that’s something that I can do.
Grab someone’s attention in a short span of time, so tagging my empanada to bring awareness to it.
For example that ‘notes to a stranger ‘ an Instagram account, that writes notes around London
People can actively also engage with the account by taking a picture of what the note they and send it back to that Instagram handle. That form of engagement is something I also wanna build with my Instagram.

I refined my target audience getting more specific so I’m able to know the niche group I’m catering for.
Having a niche audience is very important because it helps you design better as you know what kind of people you are catering for.

Presentation Brian and Steve.
I created brief summary of what I have previously thought about and done to show Brian and Steve where I currently was.

Stated aimis raise awareness to food product. 13 to 25yr olds
Netflix plan to show content at 1.25 x normal speed for “busy people”
Instagram Memes and quick drawing, make up videos. Taken into your content creation - well done.
Develop that - drawing on a posit on a train. “Post your pics” physically.
Needs a line - “Sticky Empanadas”
Cut outs, people filming themselves drawing an Empanada good.
Not explaining what and Empanada is also (perversely) good.
Upsetting people will not make people understand your Empanada ideas. Drop this element

Audience
Platform (s)
To engage my audience and create a persona, I looked at other accounts such as tiny chef show.
The account is adorable and the stop motion animation is so fun and cute!
I want to be able to create something fun for my audience to interact with.
a persona!
Sticky appears!!
I created my own persona. I create my own to empanada that I can have fun with and take some photos to do some social media work engagement
My empanada is cute, with its small appearance and big eyes.
taking trips around London
Sticky note tagging
I wanna round London and went to London Bridge train track Charing cross station London by National portrait gallery and just had some fun on a post-it note stuck my social media handle with my empanada I did my little awareness campaign.
It was quite fun although I’m not sure people around me knew what I was doing, I managed to record everything on my phone and then, later on, edit it on my phone for my Instagram and TikTok account.
Tick tock has its own editing software, which I used for my tick tock post, to make them feel more authentic to the app.
Recording videos and editing was the main skill I used for this section of my work, as most of are videos.

I created a mixture of videos and images for my Instagram.
Most of my videos are quick and entertaining to watch as everything is visualise and is coherent content.
Interactions
It's a little heartbreaking to just say my most commented image was Rahimas comment on my instagram
Instead of using twitter, which is the platform I originally was going to use, i chose to use reddit
I did receive a message, which I replied to...
The comment is a little anti-climatic but its still fun, asking me, Really??
I subreddited Spanish food to broaden my target market.

Tick tock
Tick Tock is where I received most of my engagement.
The post with fewer hashtags didn't do as well as the ones with quite a few hashtags.
I think the choice of background music also affects the view count.
This was my most viewed video on tick tock.
It was my tick tock version of how I made my empanada.
I assume it is safe to say that either the tags worked well or people enjoyed watching the video.
I had some small minor comments.
I am glad someone shared a video with their friend
This is one of my proudest moments.
Someone using a taco emoji and telling me, that there is no empanada emoji.
I interacted with the comment, as how could I not?
Thoughts
Once I had established my pathway in the brief, it became clearer on what I wanted/needed to do.
With social media, you always have to be active and interacting with your audience consistently to gain a following.
If I had been more consistent with my post I could have had a better outcome.
I enjoyed creating a persona.
My video editing has improved and my knowledge of adobe rush .
