Considered to be one of the first designers who engaged with computers, to create work.
In the 1980s the computer hit the consumer market. This caused designers to be wary of the technology as it came with fonts.
she pushed the begin front using the technology and the glitches and applications it came with.(Design Indaba 2018)
One piece of her work that includes an anatomical heart in the centre has a lot of moment. the background looks busy but does not interfere with the text, as the text used is legible. The used of yellow and black makes the image stand out as the colours look as if they have been splattered onto the page. The piece almost looks like a college as there is a range of font being used. The mood created is one of power and movement.
some of her work looks a bit chaotic through the use of placement, though when you look deeper there is a slight use of an order to keep things interesting.
Throughout her work, she uses a range of colours, mainly bright ones.
the offset of text and use of colour and overlaying makes her images stand out and makes them look interesting.
Her use of images to create forms of collage and adding shadows to create depth, allow for an impact of chaos.
The way her work has a chaos yet order intrigues me. April Greiman is a visual communicator and through print and motion. In her work, she shows how the challenge of technology is communications as we have a lot of opportunities.
To not just use one media but use a range.
As I paint and draw too, she reminds me to not lose that aspect and to try and incorporate it into my digital work. To not just stay in a box, but use many tools.
Communication is a langue what we must learn and try to show people.
To be able to express your message is important.
